Whether you come for a museum visit, a quiet day on the beach, or a long lunch that drifts into sunset, Saadiyat offers the kind of balance that feels increasingly rare – a space where there’s plenty to do, and just as much reason to slow down.

A Cultural District of Global Significance

The Louvre Abu Dhabi: An Architectural and Artistic Landmark

Saadiyat Island’s cultural ambition is perhaps best illustrated by the Louvre Abu Dhabi – a museum of encyclopedic breadth housed beneath a floating dome of filigreed light. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the structure is a modern marvel, casting shadows that seem to shift with each breath of sea breeze.
Inside, the museum’s galleries present a global narrative of art, spanning millennia and civilizations. Egyptian funerary relics converse with Renaissance masterpieces and contemporary installations, creating dialogues that transcend geography and time. For collectors and connoisseurs, private viewings, curator-led tours, and invitation-only events offer privileged access and deeper engagement.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi: A Future Icon in the Making

Still rising from the sands of Saadiyat, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is poised to redefine contemporary art in the region. With a bold, kinetic, unmistakable design by Frank Gehry, the museum promises to be a sanctuary for progressive art and thought, with a curatorial focus on voices from the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa. For those who track the global art world, this is a space worth watching – and, soon, inhabiting.

Coastal Escapes Defined by Beauty and Tranquility

Saadiyat Beach: A Sanctuary by the Sea

Unlike many other beaches, Saadiyat’s shoreline has been preserved with care. Here, nature is not merely a backdrop; it is central to the experience. The beach, a protected nesting ground for hawksbill turtles, stretches across nine kilometres of undisturbed coastline where tranquillity reigns.
The private beach clubs that dot the shore offer elegantly appointed cabanas, attentive beach butlers and gourmet cuisine delivered straight to your sunbed. Memberships are limited and highly sought after. Within these exclusive enclaves, leisure blends seamlessly with community, a quiet gathering of those who appreciate life’s finer things.

Marine Experiences with a Personal Touch

For the people who love water sports, Saadiyat offers an assortment of ocean-facing activities tailored to individual passions. Private yachts sail along the shores, their itinerary being decided upon whimsical fancy. Scuba diving trips reveal coral gardens beyond the view of unwary beach walkers. And for the adventurous, stand-up paddleboarding, deep-sea fishing, and jet-skiing are all intended in terms of safety, elegance, and selectivity.

Golf, Refined

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club: Where Challenge Meets Coastal Beauty

Conceived by golfing icon Gary Player, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club offers a course where each hole is shaped by its surroundings. With uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and fairways bordered by dunes and indigenous plants, it’s a course designed not just for play, but for presence. Precision, restraint, and respect for the landscape define its character.
The par-72 layout features holes that flirt with the sea breeze and fairways that follow the contours of the land. PGA professionals offer bespoke instruction, while the clubhouse – complete with fine dining and a panoramic terrace – welcomes players and spectators alike. For those who view golf as a sport and a social ritual, Saadiyat delivers.

Gastronomy That Elevates the Everyday

On Saadiyat Island, cuisine is given the royal treatment. Restaurants overlook beaches and courtyards, with menus that reflect both global inspiration and regional soul. One may dine on modern Levantine cuisine laced with sumac and saffron, or opt for Mediterranean simplicity prepared with quiet precision.
What distinguishes these dining experiences is the menus tailored to the guest, not the hour; wine pairings selected not just for taste, but for occasion; and settings where service, ambiance, and detail come together seamlessly, making the meal as memorable as the moment.

Culinary Events and Encounters

Throughout the year, Saadiyat plays host to intimate culinary events that draw gourmands and chefs from across the world. These are not mass gatherings but thoughtful occasions – pop-up dinners with Michelin-acclaimed talent, limited-seat tastings of rare vintages, or immersive cooking classes taught by culinary artisans. For those who travel for taste, Saadiyat’s calendar is rich with reward.

Hotels That Feel Like Private Estates

The hospitality on Saadiyat Island mirrors its overall ethos: attentive, intuitive, and quietly lavish. At the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, villas spill onto private stretches of beach, with interiors that reflect contemporary elegance softened by natural textures. The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort is a classicist’s dream – ornate, yet refined – with butler service that recalls old-world sensibilities.
Newer arrivals, like the Edition, infuse modern design and urban edge into the island’s hospitality mix, offering sleek minimalism for the international traveller.
While Saadiyat eschews the sprawling malls of its neighbouring emirates, it excels in boutique offerings. Museum gift shops surprise with objets d’art, limited-run prints, and artisan-made jewellery. Hotel boutiques offer resort wear and accessories chosen for timelessness rather than trend. The emphasis here is selectivity, and pieces that tell a story, or start one.
Many of Saadiyat’s finest experiences require anticipation. Private art tours, premium dining, and bespoke wellness retreats often book well in advance. For the seasoned traveller, the services of a luxury concierge can unlock otherwise unavailable moments – from after-hours access to exhibitions to chartered sails timed perfectly with the setting sun.
In a world of constant motion, Saadiyat Island invites a different kind of luxury defined by presence and thoughtfulness. It is, in every sense, Abu Dhabi’s crown jewel.

Buying Property in Abu Dhabi as a Foreigner: All You Need to Know

Can foreigners buy property in Abu Dhabi? Learn about ownership options, legal rights, and the buying process for expats in the UAE capital.

Abu Dhabi has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, solidifying its position as a leading financial, cultural, and entertainment hub in the region. With a steadily rising number of newcomers – attracted by the city’s numerous lifestyle and economic advantages – many are now asking whether foreigners can purchase property in the capital, and if so, what the process entails. In this guide, we’ll outline everything you need to know about buying property in Abu Dhabi as a foreigner.

Before we begin, it is important to understand that it is possible for foreigners to own property in the city, but only certain types (of property). It all comes down to Law No.19 of 2005, which concerns the regulation of the real estate sector in Abu Dhabi. This specific decree affords foreigners the right to own property in the form of floors and apartments only, not land. There are four main systems through which an interested party can acquire a qualifying property.

Ownership

Similar to the Dubai leasehold model, foreigners can own properties in Abu Dhabi, but only under a 99-year leasehold title. This allows ownership of residential units such as villas or apartments, and also comes with the added benefit of being able to sell the property on, despite not owning the land the bricks and mortar sit on. “Ownership” is most advantageous for buyers who are looking for a long-term residence or those looking to invest.
This model is basically the Abu Dhabi version of a freehold property. It provides the buyer with a full ownership deed, so you might hear this being referred to as freehold in the Abu Dhabi market. It is important to understand that it is not the same as what you might understand as freehold in your own country. In many Western countries, for example, freehold means you own the property and the land. That is not the case with freehold properties in the UAE capital.

Musataha

A Musataha agreement is made between an investor and the owner of the land, giving the investor the right to develop the land over a certain period of time, usually between 10 and 50 years. The investor, referred to as the ‘Musataha’, is able to develop buildings, invest in property, mortgage and even lease the land which belongs to the owner. However, a share of the profits must be paid to the land owner, as per the Musataha contract. Upon completion of the 50-year lease, the Musataha can be renewed once.
This form of ownership was introduced into the UAE to encourage investors to embark upon real estate projects. It comes with a range of benefits, including more rights and flexibility, and is particularly useful for those wishing to undertake sizeable development projects. Furthermore, Musataha contracts allow owners to potentially mortgage the land and receive a loan from the bank.
Calculating the Musataha value is done by multiplying the yearly rent by the number of years in the agreement. Prices vary depending on where in Abu Dhabi the property is located.

Usufruct

This option presents buyers with the right to use and benefit from their property for a period of 99 years. However, where the Usufruct differs is in the fact that the user cannot alter or modify the structure of the building.
While the Usufruct can be a handy option in some circumstances, the fact that no modifications can be made makes it an implausible option for a lot of potential buyers. Where this option can make sense is for those who plan on owning the property long term but do not need (or wish) to make any adjustments. As such, Usufruct is a good option for those who are specifically looking for an apartment to buy in Abu Dhabi.

Long-Term Lease

This option affords users the right to occupy and use a property for a minimum of 25 years. The long-term lease option is similar to a long lease in other countries, and allows exclusive use of the property for the contracted term. It also allows potential buyers the option to sublet, dependent upon the specific terms of the contract.
While not as long as the other options, the long-term lease often includes the right to renew or renegotiate terms upon completion of the contracted period. This can be attractive to expats or business owners who are seeking long-term stability, but do not want (or need) ownership responsibilities.

Additional Considerations

Covering a range of needs, all of these options come with certain pros and cons. For those wishing to buy in Abu Dhabi, there are a few further considerations to fully understand before beginning the process.
Similar to Dubai, expats can only buy property in certain designated locales around the city. Areas such as Yas Island, Al Raha Beach and Saadiyat Island all afford foreigners the right to buy in Abu Dhabi, while property outside of these zones is not available for expat ownership.
Additionally, Ownership, Musataha, and Usufruct are all legally recognised property options and can all be registered with the relevant authorities. These property rights also come with inheritance rights. Should the situation arise, property can be passed to heirs in accordance with the laws in their home countries, thanks to a new law. Of course, a will is needed, but the testator is eligible to leave the property to whomever they please.
Finally, it is important to consider employing a legal advisor, someone who is in tune with the ins and outs of each of the property systems we have discussed. These experts can clearly guide you through one of the most important decisions of your life.
Buying property in Abu Dhabi involves navigating a unique set of rules and options, so it’s important to understand the details before committing to a particular system. Thankfully, this guide is on hand to walk you through everything you need to know.

Why UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi Could Be the Card of the Year

UFC 321 Abu Dhabi: Fight card, headline bouts, where to stay, and the best things to do during UFC week in the UAE capital.

The UFC returns to the desert this autumn – just three months on from the Robert Whittaker v Renier De Ridder event – for a card which will have wide-ranging consequences for the heavyweight division. In what could potentially be one of the lineups of the year, we take a look at what we can expect from the event and what sort of connotations it will throw up, who is fighting, and other key considerations such as where to stay and what other things there are to do in the city during fight week. Read on to discover everything you need to know about UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi.

UFC’s Continued Legacy

The UAE market remains a strong focus for UFC President Dana White and the litany of holding companies that prop up the promotion. The company is ultimately owned by Silver Lake, through a labyrinth of subsidiaries, which count Mubadala as one of their strategic partners. Of course, Mubadala is the investment branch of the Abu Dhabi government, so it is no surprise that the UAE capital continues to host the biggest fights outside the United States.
Since the promotion first came to the Emirates back in 2010, MMA has gone from strength to strength in the region. Considering the abundance of Muslim fighters on the UFC’s books, the UAE capital offers the perfect regional base for non-North American cards, thanks to the infrastructure, safety and seamless hospitality on offer each and every time White decides to hold an event in the city.

Official UFC 321 Lineup

When Bruce Buffer steps into the octagon to announce the fighters this October, the implications for the heavyweight division will be significant.
Having waited for Jon Jones for what seems like an eternity, Tom Aspinall will finally return to the octagon as champion in the main event, which will give us a better understanding of just how long the current champ may reign for. Jones’ behaviour in dangling the fight in front of Aspinall for two years, then abruptly retiring in June, was nothing short of disgraceful, but many have simply put that down to the wild man of MMA not wanting to blemish his (almost) perfect record against the Englishman (Jones has just one DQ loss on his record against Matt Hamill for illegal 12-6 elbows).
Aspinall has a point to prove. He is widely regarded as the best out there at 265 lbs, but many are wondering just how long he can reign for now that Jones is out of the picture. Cyril Gane provides the biggest test for Tom, but he is still expected to make light work of the Frenchman.
Alexander Volkov – who Aspinall easily dispatched in the first round in March 2022 via armbar – features in the fight before, against the dangerous Brazilian Jailton Almeida. Whoever wins that one could propel themselves into the title picture, considering the lack of depth in the division right now. All they will then be faced with is the not-so-small task of getting through Aspinall if they wish to be crowned ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’.
Alexander Rakic, who at one point was being mooted as a future light-heavyweight champion, returns against undefeated Russian and terrifying knockout artist Azamat Murzakanov, while other announced fights so far include another heavyweight bout between Hamdy Abdelwahab and Chris Barnett and a middleweight clash between Russian Ikram Aliskerov and Korea’s ‘Iron Turtle’, Park Jun-Young.

Potential Additions to the Card

Given the fact that UFC 321 is still some time away, there is still plenty of scope for big additions to the fight card.
One name that refuses to go away is one Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. The popular Scouser is riding the wave of success in MMA’s top promotion right now, having won each one of his seven fights thus far. Of course, you cannot please everybody, and there are those who are pointing to the fact that his last three opponents have been on clear downward trajectories in their careers. MMA commentators are suggesting that Pimblett could be next in line for a crack at Ilia Topuria’s recently-won lightweight crown; a fight which would certainly sell due to their clear dislike of each other. However, having only fought at the end of June, that would represent a relatively quick turnaround, but his one-round demolition of Charles Oliveira means he took minimal damage, so it is certainly possible.
Pimblett hasn’t fought since dismantling former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in April, so an October date would certainly suit him. If Topuria isn’t ready, could Justin Gaethje step in? ‘The Highlight’ was last out in March against the durable Rafael Fiziev, so his timeline also fits for a possible title eliminator. Another interesting fight for Pimblett could be Dan Hooker, who won’t have been seen in a UFC octagon for over a year by the time UFC 321 comes around.
Considering how popular Islam Makhachev is in the Muslim world, there have been murmurings that the Dagestani will challenge current welterweight incumbent Jack Della Maddelena for his 170 lb title in Abu Dhabi. Nothing has been announced on that front yet, but the two have reportedly agreed to fight each other. This comes after Islam relinquished his lightweight title in a bid to become a two-weight world champion.
As unlikely as it might seem at the moment, if these two fights are added to the event, we could easily have a GOAT-level card on our hands.

Making the Most of Your Time in Abu Dhabi

Yas Island – home to the Etihad Arena where UFC 321 will take place – functions as the city’s playground, with a wealth of theme parks and other world-class attractions on offer. Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld all offer outstanding options for the family, while the island also boasts other recreational activities such as Yas Kartzone, Yas Drag Racing Academy and the world-class Yas Links Abu Dhabi – ideal for those who wish to play a few holes while in the city.
The surrounding areas also present a wealth of top-class things to do. Saadiyat Island is the city’s cultural hub, with outstanding museums such as Louvre and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, in addition to Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
Downtown Abu Dhabi is home to Corniche Beach, arguably the most iconic in town, while the area also affords access to Qasr Al Hosn, Emirates Heritage Village and Etihad Modern Art Gallery, all of which provide a closer look at Emirati culture.
If nature is more your speed, Mangrove Marine National Park is an excellent choice. Hiring a kayak from the nearby Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi Hotel is the best way to see this exceptional area of natural beauty, which boasts a large, seasonal population of Greater Flamingoes. Heading out to one of the desert’s many camping areas also provides an outstanding way to maximise your Abu Dhabi experience. The weather in late October will be ideal for a stay at the Desert Rose Safari camp, which can provide a closer look at Bedouin culture and represents one of the best experiences under the stars.

Where to Stay in Abu Dhabi During UFC 321

Yas Island has a range of high-end options for your stay, meaning you don’t have to worry about trekking across the city come fight night.
The W Abu Dhabi provides stylish lodgings from which to base your stay. The E-Wow Suite is one of the best options and consists of a bi-level duplex with one King-size bedroom. Set across 4,400 sq. ft., the suite provides guaranteed opulence, further enhanced by an expansive living space, as well as a sweeping balcony with private swimming pool and serene water views.
The Hilton Abu Dhabi, located on the south of the island, offers a contemporary waterfront stay and one of the most iconic swimming pools in the city. Boasting four premium bars, lounges and restaurants, the suites are no less impressive, with both the Royal Suite and Presidential Suite affording guests sophisticated options.
Other first-rate hotels in the area include the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, in addition to the Radisson Blu Hotel, both of which offer top-class accommodations with views across the Yas Link Abu Dhabi golf course.
UFC 321 promises to be an unforgettable occasion both for the city and for those lucky enough to procure tickets. In addition to the top-class fights on display, those in town for the event also have a range of outstanding attractions to take advantage of, all while staying in some of the best hotels in the world.

Zayed Sports City

Anyone who has spent more than a couple of days in Abu Dhabi will probably have heard about this all-encompassing sports facility on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street. Arguably the most important sporting complex in the city, it’s no surprise that Zayed Sports City boasts an extensive padel scene. The complex offers both indoor and outdoor courts, so play is possible all year round, while equipment rental and high-quality coaching are available.
Where Zayed Sports City really separates itself from the crowd is the facilities it offers in addition to padel. The venue is a comprehensive sporting facility and provides an extensive range of sports from roller skating and running to rugby and baseball. This world-class sporting locale also boasts access to ice, cue and combat sports, in addition to a wide variety of fitness classes. Zayed Sports City represents the ideal place for those who wish to spend the day engulfed in sport.

Padelae

With some of the most competitive prices in town, this Musaffah padel club stands as one of the most popular spots in town to enjoy a good game of padel.
Padelae offers high-quality coaching through coach Enric Arauz, while also boasting some of the most expansive grounds across Abu Dhabi’s padel scene. The facility showcases no fewer than 18 indoor courts, making it one of the easiest places in the city to acquire a last-minute booking, although leaving it late isn’t recommended due to the popularity of the sport.
Furthermore, Padelae extends access to a Pro Padel Shop, where you can purchase all your padel paraphernalia.

Padel Kingdom Abu Dhabi

The club has been around since 2021 and has quickly risen through the ranks of Abu Dhabi’s padel scene thanks to its top-class facilities and a bustling padel community. The facility is well-maintained and equipped with everything you need to either start your padel journey or to level up your game. Padel Kingdom also provides guests with the option to book a private court, so everyone has access to padel at this outstanding venue.

Gaby Reca Padel Academy Abu Dhabi

Located on one of Abu Dhabi’s most exclusive islands – Al Maryah Island – Gaby Reca offers a fine blend of competitive and social play. Gaby Reca boasts almost two decades of experience in the game, and also serves as the head coach of the Argentina national team. His dedication to the game has seen him design a space which not only encourages play, but also enriches your social life through padel. He also has more than 25 dedicated coaches on the books, who are well-versed in providing classes for players of all ages and levels.

Yas Beach Padel

One of the smaller facilities on today’s list with just two adjacent courts, what Yas Beach Padel loses in space, it more than makes up for in scenery. Located right on the beach, sweeping views of the channel make this one of the more picturesque padel venues in the city.
This venue offers relatively standard facilities, but where it really comes into its own is through its location. An ideal option for those who plan to spend some time at the beach, it offers the perfect contrast between relaxation and activity. So the next time you plan on heading down to the beach, why not take your padel gear with you? With the sea right there to cool down in after your game, there really is no excuse!

Padel has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity in recent years. As Abu Dhabi cements its reputation as one of the world’s most forward-thinking cities, it is perhaps fitting that the city’s development has, in many ways, paralleled the rise of the sport. With both continuing to grow at the pace of a forehand winner, padel is set to remain a central part of the city’s recreational landscape.

The Best Kayaking Spots in Abu Dhabi You Need to Try

Discover the best kayaking spots in Abu Dhabi, from mangrove parks to island escapes—perfect for nature lovers and outdoor adventurers.

Abu Dhabi’s geography is truly distinct. As an archipelago comprising approximately 200 islands – many open to visitors – the city offers a unique network of rivers, canals, and waterways, all just waiting to be explored. These natural features mean Abu Dhabi is home to some of the finest kayaking spots in the UAE – destinations that every watersports enthusiast should experience.

Mangrove Marine National Park

Arguably the most iconic kayaking destination in the entire UAE, Mangrove Marine National Park offers a veritable treasure trove for nature lovers.
Set across more than 19 sq.km, the park itself is a labyrinth of watery expanse, and as such, is only really navigable by kayak. This means there are a multitude of channels and tidal creeks for the inquisitive explorer in you.
The park is protected by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) thanks to the hundreds of plant and animal species it houses, and provides one of the most concentrated areas of natural beauty in the city. Mangroves are trees and shrubs which grow in water, creating a habitat for biodiversity. Each year, the park becomes home to a huge colony of Greater Flamingoes, attracted to the area for its breeding and feeding potential. There are also countless other bird species, as well as an abundance of marine life.
If you wish to see this magnificent park by water, kayaks are available for rent from the nearby Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi Hotel.

Louvre Museum, Saadiyat Island

The idea of kayaking in the grounds of one of the world’s most respected institutions has a certain, somewhat unusual, allure to it. This iconic museum has been named by France as its “largest cultural project abroad”, but it also doubles as one of Abu Dhabi’s best kayaking sites.
The museum is set on the Arabian Gulf coast and is surrounded by water, making it an ideal, if somewhat surprising location for a spot of kayaking. The museum itself is a stunning piece of architecture, and the kayak tours were initiated as a way for guests to learn more about how the building came into existence, from an ultra-unique perspective.
With professional coaches on hand to guide you through the journey, no prior kayaking experience is necessary, which makes this mini-adventure ideal for the whole family.

Sir Bani Yas Island

While not in the city itself, any list of Abu Dhabi’s best kayaking spots would not be complete without this hidden gem.
The island is only accessible by air or sea, and despite its location, it stands as a must-visit for kayaking enthusiasts. The Sir Bani Yas ferry is the easiest way to get there, located a couple of hours' drive west of Downtown Abu Dhabi.
Once you have arrived, you will be astounded by the natural beauty on offer. The island is home to more than 17,000 free-roaming animals, luxury villas, five-star hotels and historical sites. But for adventurists, it is the thick mangrove forest that arguably stands as the main attraction. Serene and scenic in equal measure, the island offers the perfect environment for kayaking, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace, all while keeping an eye on the wildlife.
Sir Bani Yas is still relatively unspoilt, so if it is a kayaking trip in a secluded destination you are seeking, this is probably the spot for you.

Jubail Mangrove Park

Thanks to Abu Dhabi’s wealth of mangroves, there are plenty of spots to enjoy a morning of kayaking. Chief among them is Jubail Mangrove Park, an exceptional addition to the city’s kayaking scene.
Located on Al Jubail Island – directly adjacent to Saadiyat Island and easily accessible via Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street (E12) – the mangrove park offers a 1.5-hour guided kayak tour, allowing the whole family to explore this stunning expanse.
Sunset and sunrise present the best options, allowing you to learn all about the mangroves – and the species that call them home – while still cool enough for all to enjoy. The park also offers a 2-hour glow night kayaking experience, which gives visitors a better look at what lurks beneath the surface after dark.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

While not the most picturesque kayaking spot in the city, Abu Dhabi’s popular Corniche Beach ticks many other boxes. The shoreline is one of the most popular for tourists and residents alike, serving as the ideal base for numerous sea-based activities.
Thanks to Al Lulu Island and the peninsula housing Marina Mall Abu Dhabi – which both act as natural barriers – the body of water which Corniche Beach is served by is relatively calm, which provides the ideal conditions for kayaking.
Kayaks can be rented from a number of outlets along the beach, which cater to young children via double boats. Kayaking at Corniche Beach is more of an impromptu affair – a spontaneous activity enjoyed by those who have chosen to visit the beach to relax for the day, yet no less exciting than the other options on today’s list.
Abu Dhabi is one of the most modern cities on earth and offers an endless abundance of things to do and see. While these options – which include world-class restaurants and high-end beach clubs – are great, there are an extensive range of options for those who wish to discover a slightly slower pace of life, surrounded by the natural environment. These kayak options allow residents and visitors alike the chance to reconnect with nature, while also being ideally situated so as not to inconvenience those with a busy schedule.

Sophisticated Plates: Abu Dhabi’s Michelin-Star Restaurants in 2026

Discover Abu Dhabi's top Michelin-starred restaurants offering world-class Emirati, Japanese, Italian, and Chinese fine dining experiences.

Abu Dhabi is now widely recognised as one of the Middle East’s most exclusive culinary destinations, with a range of exceptional restaurants maintaining exceptionally high standards. At the pinnacle of this epicurean treasure trove is an array of establishments honoured by the world’s leading authority on fine dining: the esteemed Michelin Guide, distributors of the coveted Michelin Star.
The 2026 edition of the Michelin Guide for Abu Dhabi has expanded to include a total of 56 restaurants, marking an increase from the 48 establishments recognised in the 2025 guide. This growth reflects the city's evolving culinary sophistication and the rising prominence of its dining scene, an expansion and diversification which signifies Abu Dhabi's continued ascent as a premier gastronomic destination, offering a rich variety of dining options across multiple palates and preferences.

Erth

This inspiring Abu Dhabi restaurant stands as a gastronomical game-changer for the city’s food scene.
Located in Al Hosn, the menu is a love letter to Emirati culture, showcasing authentic flavours crafted by chefs who are passionate about exploring the country’s rich culinary heritage. As such, Erth takes pride of place as the world’s first Emirati restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star.
With outstanding starters such as the ‘torched locally farmed salmon crudo’, the hits keep coming via the sharing menu, the highlight of which is arguably the Margoga Gyoza – crispy dumplings filled with locally sourced vegetables in a coconut green curry sauce. The ‘hammour with potato scallop’ is a sensational blend of fish, potato, butter and Arabic masala, which comes with a side of polenta sauce and organic carrot.
A menu brimming with sublime options, Erth is a must-visit for those who value top-class local cuisine.

Talea by Antonio Guida

It’s no surprise that this sumptuous establishment has received a Michelin Star, considering the divine Italian cuisine on offer.
Helmed by authentic Italian chef Antonio Guida, the restaurant is a flavourful journey through classics such as Neapolitan pizza, Venetian baccala, Campanian seafood and Sicilian spaghetti. Guida is a family-style chef who cemented his vast reputation in the frenetic kitchens of Milan before arriving in Abu Dhabi, bringing with him that vibrancy only an Italian chef can bring.
Located in the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, the menu also delivers standouts such as the linguine all’ astice, a sensational lobster dish served with organic tomatoes and basil. Further opulent dishes include the spigola (seabass) and the pollo e carciofi, an extravagant pan-roasted chicken with couscous and artichokes. Whatever you choose from this menu is bound to leave you frantically searching your diary for your next free evening.

Hakkasan

The final Michelin-starred restaurant in Abu Dhabi, Hakkasan is the second Asian restaurant to be awarded the distinction, but this exceptional establishment focuses mainly on Chinese cuisine.
The restaurant shares a location with Talea in the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, just past the western end of Corniche Beach, and boasts timeless classics such as the Peking Duck. A supreme selection of dim sum is another particular highlight, while the fish and poultry/meat menus provide further enjoyment through top-class offerings such as the charcoal-grilled Canadian lobster and the stone-grilled Japanese A5 wagyu beef sirloin.
Furthermore, Hakkasan presents discerning guests with a curated selection of wines to rival the best in the city. With knowledgeable staff on hand to recommend pairings, the restaurant benefits from a sophisticated yet vibrant atmosphere – ideal for family outings or gatherings with friends.

Bib Gourmand Selections

While not Michelin-starred in their own right, Abu Dhabi is home to a variety of Bib Gourmand options – that is, restaurants which have been highlighted for offering high-quality, good value meals at a reasonable price, typically a three-course meal within a set price range.
Almayass is a Lebanese-Armenian fusion restaurant recognised by various outlets such as the New York Times and Food & Wine Magazine, while Ryba is a local seafood establishment featuring Emirati ingredients and spices.
Al Mrzab delivers traditional Emirati and Kuwaiti cuisine, in addition to Beirut Sur Mer, which, as you may have guessed, showcases some of the best Lebanese cuisine in the country. The exceptional Otoro is a nod to contemporary Japanese cuisine, in addition to T’azal and Mika, which both exhibit exquisite Mediterranean dishes.
A new addition to this year’s Bib Gourmand list is the sumptuous Golfish, a contemporary Japanese establishment which boasts a vibrant selection of sushi, skewers and spicy noodle dishes. The Abu Dhabi outlet is a sister branch of the original Dubai restaurant, in case you recognise the name. Bua Thai Cafe has also been presented with the distinction of Bib Gourmand, thanks in large part to its authentic menu, which features classics like steamed hargao, chicken green curry and of course, mango sticky rice dessert. Another new inclusion is 3Fils Abu Dhabi, yet another addition to the city’s abundance of exceptional Japanese restaurants.
Some new restaurants have also been added to the Selected Restaurants list, highlighted for their good cooking. Establishments such as Butcher & Still, Cafe Milano and Coya, all located in the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, have been recognised, while others like Al Farah, Oak Room, Paradiso and Em Sherif Sea Cafe (among others) have also received a spotlight for their exceptional quality and consistency, reflecting the city’s growing culinary excellence.

It is here that Abu Dhabi sets the tone of refinement, where even the youngest guests are treated as thoughtful participants in a grander conversation.

Yas Island’s Trilogy of Wonder

Yas Island, in many ways, is Abu Dhabi’s playground, but that word feels too modest. This is where storytelling, science, and spectacle collide under one banner of elegance. At Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, a fully indoor experience cloaked in air-conditioned comfort, families enter a fantasy crafted with cinematic precision. It’s not simply yet another place to watch cartoons come alive — it’s an ode to character and craft. Children are delighted by the immediacy of Gotham’s shadows or Bedrock’s stone-age hilarity, while adults marvel at the extraordinary detail that surrounds them.
Nearby, Yas Waterworld offers a different kind of immersion. More than just a water park, it’s a love letter to Emirati heritage. Its pearl-diving theme subtly weaves in elements of local culture, turning splash-filled adventures into something culturally resonant. It reminds us that education doesn’t have to be confined to classrooms — it can be woven into the laughter of a family sliding down the Falcon’s Falaj, the largest six-seater water coaster in the region.
And then there’s Ferrari World, where adrenaline and artistry meet in a rare alchemy. Children too young to ride the record-breaking Formula Rossa will still find wonder in the mechanics, the history, and the gentle buzz of possibility in the air. It's the kind of place where even standing still feels like motion.

Desert Days and Starry Nights

Beyond the city’s polished edges, the Liwa Desert beckons with its quiet, golden vastness. Here, families can choose to stay at places like Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort, a mirage-like retreat that is both opulent and organic. Children ride camels at dawn while parents sip Arabic coffee under date palms. There are no screens, no queues, no synthetic distractions — only dunes that stretch like waves and stars that arrive without invitation.
The desert is, in many ways, the perfect counterpoint to Abu Dhabi’s modernity. It reminds families that wonder doesn’t always have to come with flashing lights or immersive soundscapes. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a child’s footprints in the sand, slowly fading as the wind passes.

SeaWorld and the Science of Awe

Among Abu Dhabi’s newest and most fascinating attractions is SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, where marine biology meets cutting-edge education. With eight realms dedicated to the mysteries of the ocean, it is both entertainment and enlightenment. Children marvel at manta rays and penguins, while parents appreciate the scientific integrity behind each exhibit. It’s rare to find such a space where a day of play might one day inspire a life of purpose.

The Magical Emirates Park Zoo

Not every family outing needs to be fast-paced or noisy. Sometimes, a gentle encounter with nature creates the most lasting memories. From feeding giraffes and meeting playful primates to watching bird shows that blend education with entertainment, this sanctuary invites families to connect with the natural world up close.
The zoo’s well-designed pathways and shaded rest areas make it easy for parents to relax while children explore.

A City That Understands Families

It is easy to forget that at the heart of every great city is a philosophy, and Abu Dhabi’s revolves around placing families at the centre of everything, with places that can be innovative without being impersonal. From Corniche Beach, where lifeguards and clean sands promise peace of mind, to Jubail Mangrove Park, where children can walk along winding boardwalks above living ecosystems, the city continually invites families to reconnect with each other and nature.
Even its malls, often underestimated as mere shopping centers, are elevated experiences. Yas Mall, for instance, offers KidZania — a miniature world where children can experiment with real-world professions — alongside haute couture for the grown-ups. Here, a visit isn’t just about buying things; it’s about roleplay, storytelling, and shared delight.
There is no shortage of things to do in Abu Dhabi with kids, but more importantly, there is no shortage of meaning in doing them. Whether in the embrace of tradition or the arms of innovation, families will find themselves welcomed, understood, and subtly transformed.
And when the day ends, and the city glows under a canopy of stars or the soft hues of a sunset over Saadiyat’s shores, there is a sense that something truly rare has occurred. Not just a holiday. Not just a good time. But a shared moment of wonder.

History of the Tournament

The tournament first came about in 2006 as one of three European Tour events held on the Arabian Peninsula. Brought to the country as part of the UAE’s strategic investment in sport, the tournament was seen as a coup when it was first announced, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. It was hoped at the time that the tournament would help to promote Abu Dhabi as a world-class tourist destination, which, in hindsight, has almost certainly worked.
For the first 16 years of its existence, the event took place at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, which played a huge part in cementing the legacy of the competition. Since 2022, however, the tournament has called Yas Links Abu Dhabi home. Yas Island is known as the city’s leisure and entertainment hub, offering first-class hospitality, in addition to a range of stunning views and award-winning entertainment attractions.

Significance of the Event

While not one of the four golf majors (the most important tournaments of the year), the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship still holds relative significance and has ramifications for the end-of-season Race to Dubai. As part of the DP World Tour Play-Offs, the event functions as part of the season’s climax, with the top 70 players competing for a chance to play at the money-spinning Dubai event.
Only the top 50 players will make the cut, while the winner will go on to receive somewhere in the neighbourhood of $1.5 million. The tournament usually attracts the world’s best golfers, as entry into the Dubai tournament the following week offers players the chance to win a substantial share of the $10 million prize pot – significantly more than the winnings on offer at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Notable Past Winners

It might surprise you to learn that the only major winners to ever win the tournament are Ireland’s Shane Lowry and Germany's Martin Kaymer. Falling at the last hurdle on no fewer than four occasions, Northern Irish fan-favourite Rory McIlroy is yet to win the event, but following a strong showing in 2025 – in which he finally managed to complete the career grand slam – the pressure that follows him around the course closer than his own caddy has now been lifted somewhat. He could easily use that to his advantage over the coming years in Abu Dhabi.
Having won back-to-back events in 2017 and 2018, big things were expected of Tommy Fleetwood, but the man from northwest England is yet to claim his maiden major. English golfers have traditionally performed well in the UAE’s capital; Paul Waring, Lee Westwood, Tyrell Hatton, Robert Rock and Paul Casey (twice) have all taken home the top prize in various iterations of the event over the past two decades.
With other winners such as Victor Perez and Rickie Fowler, the tournament tends to bring out the best in the chasing pack for whatever reason; that is, the guys who are ranked just a touch below the very best in the world. And with the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele and JJ Spaun all set to appear at this year’s tournament, that second tier will again have to be on top form if they want to challenge the very best in the world.

Fan Experience

The event attracts thousands of visitors over the course of its four days, with upwards of 80,000 spectators making their way to the tournament in recent years. And it comes as no surprise considering the all-encompassing fan experience on offer.
With a whole host of facilities providing top-class hospitality services, a who’s who of the celebrity and high-net-worth community are poised to be in attendance. The Championship Chalet offers guests exclusive access to an air-conditioned enclosure which features sweeping views of the 18th green, the ideal spot to watch the action come to its crescendo.
The chalet provides a fantastic base from which to enjoy the tournament and includes a range of exceptional perks, such as premium dining and a fine selection of free-flowing ales and wines. Fast track access, priority parking, VIP admission and all three meals are included, in addition to live cooking stations, a big screen to take in the action of the day’s play and complimentary Wi-Fi; well worth the AED 1,600.

Where to Stay

Considering its status as a modern city with world-class facilities, there is no shortage of high-end hotels from which to base yourself if you are in town for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The Hilton Abu Dhabi, based just a stone’s throw from the course itself, offers one of the most spectacular swimming pools in the city. The accommodations are also exquisite; the 4,000 sq.ft. Presidential Suite stands at the apex of the offerings, which features a private garden terrace, a hot tub, a spacious living room, dining room and kitchenette and executive lounge access. As an added perk, the room comes with access for all guests to one Yas Island Theme Park per day.
The W Abu Dhabi, located at Yas Marina and overlooking Yas Marina Circuit, offers another sophisticated option from which to base yourself. The hotel offers a range of suite options such as the Wow, E-Wow and Fantastic suites, each with its own uniquely opulent style.
Also located just a short distance from the course on Yas Island is the Radisson Blu Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, each of which affords discerning visitors with a variety of elegant options.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is one of the city’s premier events. Given its position in the calendar – the tournament takes place in early November each year – visitors enjoy some of the best weather the UAE has to offer. Golf fans can also enjoy a range of on-site VIP experiences, all while staying in some of the most prestigious hotels on Yas Island. With the chance of rubbing shoulders with some of golf’s biggest hitters, make sure you don’t miss this prestigious event.
